Question of the Day 11-12-2017

Question of the Day

Here’s a question for you:

How did you get started in Jiu Jitsu? Or if you don’t do Jiu Jitsu, how did you get started in your favorite activity or hobby?

My Answer: I wanted to try a class in self-defense and experience a new challenge. I had never done any other martial art before. So I had no idea what Jiu Jitsu was until I stepped on the mat. What a surprise! And now, what a joy!

If you would like to share, tell me how or why you started your journey in Jiu Jitsu or another beloved hobby!

  1. I had started training JKD and Wing Chun a few years ago. My Instructors kept telling me to stay off the ground, never go to ground if you don’t have to. So I thought to myself…I better get good on the ground

    1. Awesome! I have a lot of friends who have added jiu jitsu to other stand-up martial arts to become more well rounded fighters. Thanks for your comment.

  2. I was a 3rd degree in karate and my school had a open Fight Night. I could hold my own no problem with striking, then a BJJ white belt came in and kicked my behind!!!

Well, I asked him what the heck that wrestling stuff was and the rest is history lol 😝

    1. Wow, that’s impressive. Jiu jitsu is the only martial art I’ve ever even tried. I don’t do well at any of the stand up stuff because I don’t like falling. But I do my best and bide my time in class till we “hit the mat” with grappling. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your experience.
